Ltd. Edition Mozartby Rodrich Paesold. number 17 of 100 produced.

Handcrafted in Germany.

The luthiers at the Paesold workshop in Baiersdorf, Germany patterned this run directly after historical classical-era dimensions. They replicated the finer arching, standard classical violin measurements, and acoustic response ideal for performing 18th-century repertoire.

The Roderich Paesold "Mozart" Limited Edition Violin is a premium master-tier instrument meticulously built by Paesold’s top luthiers in Baiersdorf, Germany. Because these limited series (capped at exactly 100 pieces worldwide) are custom-ordered tribute runs, they do not follow Paesold's standard sequential model numbers (like the PA803 or PA805). Instead, they are classified under their elite Master Instrument Category.
The technical specifications and build details for this rare 100-piece run reflect the historical classical standards of the 18th century:
🎻 Tonewood Specifications
  • Top Wood: Master-grade, tightly grained Alpine Spruce. This wood is naturally seasoned and air-dried for decades in the German workshop to maximize resonance and immediate acoustic response.
  • Back, Ribs, & Scroll: Highly figured, deeply flamed European Maple. The back is typically a traditional two-piece book-matched set, selected for its tight, striking tiger-stripe flaming.
  • Purfling: Genuine, hand-inlaid wood purfling tracking the exact perimeter of the historical edges to prevent body splitting and focus tonal projection.
📐 Measurements & Pattern Setup
  • The Template: Rather than using their standard Stradivari or Guarneri patterns, the Mozart model relies on a modified 18th-century classical template.
  • Dimensions: Built strictly to a 4/4 master size, featuring a slightly lower, classical arching profile. This flatter arching allows for a highly focused, direct, and singing upper register, mimicking the tonal qualities required for Mozart's solo violin concertos.
✨ Finish & Fittings
  • Varnish: Hand-applied, multi-layered spirit-oil antique finish. The luthiers explicitly shade the varnish to give it a soft golden-brown or amber-red patina, complete with subtle historical "shading" around the bouts and c-bouts to resemble an authentic classical-era instrument.
  • Fingerboard & Fittings: Select, high-density Ebony or Rosewood pegbox fittings, tailpiece, and chinrest to balance weight and ensure stable tuning across humidity changes.
🎵 Sound Characteristics
True to the "Mozart" namesake, the acoustic profile is engineered for brilliance, rapid projection, and extreme clarity. Unlike darker, heavily bass-resonant instruments, this model has a transparent, sparkling, and sweet tonal profile. This makes it incredibly articulate for rapid spiccato and classical-era phrasing.
